Dzulhyun-Walker Wilderness Film Launch

May 16, 2025 | Action, Caribou, Event

In May 2025 we launched a short video about the Walker Wilderness in collaboration with Evan Dux Media. The film features late Lheidli T’enneh elder Edie Frederick, longtime Walker Creek resident Hugh Perkins, and expert botanist Curtis Bjork. We are honoured that Lheidli T’enneh elder Michael Bozoki introduced the event, and illustrated the connections his community has to this special place.

Our launch event attracted 80 people, 50 of whom wrote paper letters to BC Timber Sales requesting that they cancel their ‘plan blocks’ in the Walker and Humbug drainages.

Public pressure works: three days before our event, BC Timber Sales contacted us to say they had dropped five blocks, including the largest proposed block on Walker Creek. Approximately ten proposed blocks remain in the Humbug/POB area that we are pushing to be cancelled for the sake of the Mountain Caribou and myriad other life forms in the area.
